AOTM ( SAM EVANS ) 

Sam Evans is young model new to scene, but with sensibility and poise beyond his years. A chance encounter with Howie Mandel while out to dinner led Sam, at just 12-years-old, to being signed by NEXT modeling agency which soon began to open doors.

Now at 17, Sam is a frequent runway model for John Varvatos and is beginning to book consistent work represented by IMG.

We met for the first time at a coffee shop in Silverlake, CA to discuss our shoot and pick up some clothes from a nearby vintage store. We spent the afternoon sifting through racks and landed on a pair of pink slacks. They were perfect for what we had in mind. He told me he had a tiger-striped shirt and tall leather boots at home and with that we had our first outfit.

We borrowed a 1956 T-Bird from Kathleen’s dad, Chip and rolled it out onto the driveway for the shoot.

Sam apparently catches a lot of flack from the grandparents about being shot with a cigarette hanging from his mouth. With this shoot I thought I’d try to work my way around the smokes, but ended up making my own prop cigarette using 5 cigs pierced by a wire hanger. The result looked like a “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” inspired hallucination as Kathleen leaned in to to give Sam a light.

By the end of the day we got to meet Sam’s family and left him with a half used disposable camera to finish out.
