AOTM ( MARCOS GONZALES )
Marcos Gonzales stopped by our place the other night after picking up his car from the repair shop. He hadn’t eaten all day and the first thing he absolutely needed to do was order food. Kathleen and I then spent the next 20 minutes watching him make ridiculous faces at his cell phone while occasionally saying things like ‘oooo, spicy’ or ‘yum yum yum’ in various Latino accents.
The night then turned into a long and thoughtful talk about magic mushrooms while we all took turns sitting in a massage chair in a dimly lit garage.
Marcos made his way out LA soon after graduating from Emerson College. He studied with the Groundlings while putting out videos of himself in character as the Latin American news anchor Jorge Ortiz. The character garnered Gonzales a fair amount of attention and was picked up in various forms by Comedy Central and Funny or Die.
He’s been careful so as to not get pigeon-holed as a one trick pony (weird thing to say, but I’ll leave it) and was advised immediately after signing with a manager to expand his comedic repertoire.
Marcos now has an impressive cast of characters in his back pocket and has being seeing success with his recent sketch comedy show hosted by Comedy Central titled, ‘Tele’. The show packed house every night and is now in development to be turned into a television series.
Now with a major agency in his corner, CAA, Marcos has worked his way into the world of TV and film acting.
It’s been fun to see the progression of a friends career after having shared beers since freshman year.
Meet the fabulous characters of Marcos Gonzales's sketch comedy show, 'Tele'.
